It is soooo over the top and so bizarre that it trancendes itself into territory normally reserved for david lynch.
A lot of it feels like satire of the american novel. It does have quite a bit of homophobic slur, but the protagonist always shrugs them off, making the slurs even more cartoonish and out of place. Like a mockery of the absurdity of this genre?
The dialogue is kinda like if david milch attempted beat poetry, the acting is like a day time tv show, where the episode is about the characters putting on a play, and every scene is lined up so as you never lose momentum.
I also really enjoy ryan o’neal a lot.
