like the exorcist; except you know that kid's the devil since the opening credits. you know it's bad when doctor who shows up to warn you about your demon kid

yeah this is very obviously from the '70s studio catholic horror boom. i enjoyed the weird bromance globe-trotting adventure and the ominous goosebumps-camera sidequest. just so not what i was expecting from this. ultimately ok but not my cup of tea — except for that fucking decapitation scene. i cannot FUCKING believe gerald ford adopts the antichrist at the end

Some really good memorable scenes and a great score, but this isn’t quite at the level of the all time great horror films for me because for most of this I’m not all that engaged in what’s happening. Still a worthwhile watch and an interesting premise, definitely inspired a lot of inferior films that came after this
