Ronal is a young barbarian with low self-esteem, the polar opposite of all the muscular barbarians in his village. He's a real wuss. However, as fate would have it, responsibility for the tribe's survival falls on Ronal's scrawny shoulders, when the evil Lord Volcazar raids the village and abducts every living barbarian with the exception of Ronal, who is forced to go on a perilous quest to save his enslaved clan and thwart Volcazar’s plot to rule the world.

Ich kann das Gesehene nicht in Worte fassen. Ich bin sprachlos. Nichts hätte mich hierauf vorbereiten können, außer vielleicht ein weiteres Mal die verpixelten Umrisse in Joshua and the Promised Land, wobei Ronal the Barbarian aber sicher nicht dieses Maß an Furchtbarkeit und Grauen besitzt.
Ronal the Barbarian ist ein einziges Kopfschütteln, ein Film ohne Verstand und Sinn, ohne jede Ernsthaftigkeit. Jede Dramatik, die man vielleicht versucht aufzubauen, scheitert schon im ersten Anschlag. Der Film ist ein Witz. Doch keiner, der tatsächlich lohnenswert gewesen wäre, erzählt zu werden. Es ist ein Witz voll Kitsch und Klischee, ein Film, der sich in allen Details und Ideen, die in ihm liegen, nur von Besserem bedient hat. Die gesamte Welt scheint wie eine einzige Kopie und alles, was doch eigens kreiert sein mag, ist vollkommen erbärmlich.
Das einzige, was man möglicherweise positiv hervorheben kann, ist der Stil und insbesondere der Humor, die beiderseits zwar enorm sexualisiert sind, aber doch irgendwo tatsächlich Anklang finden. Dieser absolut übertriebene Humor ist eigentlich das, was den Film leben lässt, was ihm irgendwo eine Existenzberechtigung gibt und was diese 90 Minuten dann irgendwo ein wenig erträglich macht. Nichtsdestotrotz ist Ronal The Barbarian unfassbar anstrengend, billig und ernüchternd. Es ist wohlmöglich ein Film geworden, den ich mir nur unter Zwang oder Einfluss unmoralischer Substanzen wieder zu Gemüte führen würde.

I cannot put into words what I have just seen. I am speechless. Nothing could have prepared me for this, except perhaps seeing the pixelated images in Joshua and the Promised Land once again, although Ronal the Barbarian certainly does not possess this level of awfulness and horrific terror.
Ronal the Barbarian is nothing but a complete joke, a film without meaning or sense, without any seriousness whatsoever. Any drama that might be attempted fails at the first attempt. The film is a joke. But not one that is actually worth telling. It is a joke full of kitsch and clichés, a film that has only borrowed from better works in all its details and ideas. The entire world seems like a single copy, and everything that may have been created on its own is completely pathetic.
The only thing that can possibly be highlighted as positive is the style and, in particular, the humor, both of which are enormously sexualized, but still manage to be appealing in some way. This absolutely exaggerated humor is actually what brings the film to life, what gives it a right to exist and what makes these 90 minutes a little more bearable. Nevertheless, Ronal the Barbarian is incredibly exhausting, cheap, and sobering. It has probably become a film that I would only watch again under force or the influence of immoral substances.
