I can’t even tell you why this movie is bad.
There’s simply nothing particularly interesting about it, other than Ripley. We land on this weird Meninist prison camp, and Newt is IMMEDIATELY killed off for no reason. Like seriously no reason. The script writers must have just not wanted to deal with her.
The Fincher of this movie is barely showing. There’s a couple slow pans that bear similarities with his later works, and he’s worked with a few of these actors since. Oh! And there are serial killers in this. I hope he did that.
It is more a sequel to the first than the third but it dropped everything Ridley Scott taught us about not showing the monster. You get this weird stop motion alien half the time, it’s really jarring.
Just boring. Not horrible, just uninteresting. I didn’t care.
