I don't typically get heartbroken when a creative or celebrity figure passes. I get a little sad, as it is someone whose life has ended, but it rarely gets deeper than that.
Having discovered him 10 years after his death, Satoshi Kons death still saddens me. Even though it takes a few watches before I truly start to genuinely love his films on a deep level, it pains me to know that there will never be another Satoshi Kon film.
But on the flipside, his legacy is still kept alive through myself and others who admire his work and are inspired by him so much, that like all art, there is never truly death as long as those after keep it alive through its influence.
RIP Satoshi Kon, and thank you for creating such wonderful art.
