FINALLY BACK AGAIN WITH LETTERBOXD. Sorry for the inactive 🥹🙏🏻💛
OKAAYY SOOO i just watch this movie yesterday (back again with my Jean-Louis Trintignant era). i can say there’s something hypnotic about Deadly Sweet movie. a strange, dazzling world where danger feels almost seductive, and chaos somehow turns into rhythm. it’s the kind of movie that doesn’t simply tell a story, but pulls you into a fever dream of neon colors, jazz beats, and suspicious glances
Jean-Louis Trintignant moves through the movie like a man trapped in someone else’s dream. he’s charming, alert, and just a little too calm for how surreal everything around him becomes. Ewa Aulin’s "Jane", on the other hand, feels like a puzzle wrapped in beauty and confusion. you can’t decide if you should trust her, or if she’s part of the trap
the editing is restless, almost playful, like the film itself refuses to sit still! Every frame pops with color, mirrors, and smoke, capturing that late 60s energy that’s equal parts stylish and disorienting. it’s not just a crime story, but it’s an experience. a whirlwind of paranoia, attraction, and rhythm that leaves you unsure what’s real and what’s performance ✨️
p.s. i have the reason why i gave this 3.5/5 instead 4/5. i know this movie is good but there are some scenes that confusing me, so so sooo i gave it mid-rate 🫶🏻
