A relatively basic but very solid take on the early stages of the Vietnam war that is led by a superb performance from Michael Caine. It’s really interesting to frame a love triangle during this time and it works surprisingly well. The movies not really about that in the grand scheme of things but as a framework for the story it’s very interesting to see. I think the plot unravels in quite a cliche way and isn’t very special at all but it’s far from bad. It’s good if anything but I just wish it did a bit more for me if I’m honest. I want to like it more but it doesn’t do enough to make me love it!!!
