I thought it was going to be better as the director made one of my favourite movies in Heat. I personally did not like the grainy cinematography and characters felt kind of one note. The shoot out scene was good. The film reminded me of a Terrance Malik film but not a good one. I just felt like style over substance, trying to be atmospheric but not achieving that.

Maybe I’ll like it if I watch it again.

This may be one of Michael Mann's weakest films, but I will say this is definitely a more unique crime thriller, and it tries to do something different; it just doesn't hit for me personally. The script is weird at points, lots of stiff acting. The chemistry between Sonny and Gong Li is hanging on by a thread; it's laughable at best. I will say the shootout and shots of the speedboat going to Havana are tasteful for your eyes, almost this movie was alright tbh, writing could have been better.
