I'd say that all the elements of this film could have been explored much further, but what they did explore works very well.
It succeeds in delivering humor so uncomfortable it's almost unbearable, in being ambiguous so the viewer genuinely doesn't know what's really going on, in creating a cozy yet oppressive atmosphere, and in being filled with despicable characters.
As you can see, it's a film with many virtues that it delivers. But it certainly could have been better in every aspect I mentioned, and in others as well.
