BE CIVILIZED. SET GOOD EXAMPLES.
A decently interesting look into what makes China the new global superpower. The documentary is able to show scale on a really impressive level. There’s an urgency to everything presented both in the filmmaking and the daily life depicted that compliment each other really well.
The documentary conveys the pursuit of the “Chinese Dream” it shows the hectic life of Chinese city dwellers, workers and the world they live in.. it’s shows of a level of productivity and workload that simply just doesn’t exist in the West or anywhere else anymore.
These types of paradigm shifts in global power is scary, but also extremely interesting, and with the slow and gradual decline of the US and with how the stable European continent is now tearing itself apart, it’s not crazy to say that China is the most powerful nation in the world.
You would think that this is a massive shift in the historical power dynamic but it’s really not, for most of time Europe was dependent on the Far East through trade with China, being one of the largest Empires in history, only really being challenged by the Roman Empire in it’s longevity. I think we’re headed back to that status quo, and I’m not sure if it’s for better or worse, might depend on your worldview.
Strangely a very captivating documentary that conveys a lot through simple but beautiful imagery.
