tbh I won’t say this movie is bad but it’s good to watch at evening, but still love the plot tho!
well after inheriting a massive fortune from her late husband, Margherita (who played by Catherine Spaak) decides to completely reinvent her life. What begins as grief quickly turns into a reckless sense of freedom, she surrounds herself with luxury, indulges in pleasure, and deliberately pushes against the moral boundaries of the society around her.
Dr. Carlo (who played by Jean-Louis Trintignant) caught between fascination and unease toward Margherita’s increasingly daring lifestyle. Their encounters reveal not just desire, but also the tension between liberation and self-destruction
This movie feels both playful and provocative. It satirizes the hypocrisy of high society while also exploring a woman’s unapologetic pursuit of independence in a time when such choices were considered scandalous. Spaak’s performance is magnetic, oh gosh she looks so angelic too! She looks so confident, mischievous, but also vulnerable under the surface. And Trintignant with his subtle, restrained charm, balances her wild energy perfectly 🤩💞
what surprising me is how bold the narrative feels for 1968 ish movie. It’s sensual without being gratuitous, cheeky yet stylish, and manages to feel both shocking and elegant. Definitely a hidden gem of late-60s European cinema 🍓
