My first silent film this is crazy 🥹.

Clara Bow is absolute gorgeous and a complete stand out in this film, making it no wonder she exploded into stardom afterwards. And I don’t know the other competition, but she was no doubt the best person they could have casted. She has some of the ‘IT’ I’ve ever seen and she’s so magnetic.

Monty (William Austin) was also STELLAR. It could be the makeup, but it’s like I could hear every word he said as he was so expressive. It was quite magnificent.

“In a Shopgirl’s day, the first 1,000 customers are usually the crabbiest.” Glad to see that retail hasn’t changed at all in hundred years. 🫩

I’d freaking love to go yachting.

A classic Romantic Comedy, this is one of my favor films that I’ve ever seen which is a huge compliment because I don’t typically go for Rom-Coms. It was funny, witty, and it didn’t waste one scene. I was never bored, which is crazy because I’m use to modern film. I would give this movie 6 stars if I could.

The light a smile paints across a person’s face is so attractive.. I don’t think i’ve ever seen someone become ugly when they smile, that genuine smile shows a person at their most natural.. The naturalness of this film is wonderful.. If Clara Bow wanted to become an actress today, people would probably call her unattractive because she has a slight double chin, her nose isn’t tiny enough, her cheeks are a little chubby, and faint wrinkles appear when she smiles; in short, because she doesn’t have that plastic-looking appearance and i’m 100% sure of it.. On the contrary, imperfections make people so much more beautiful, and honestly, i don’t even see the things i listed as flaws, though many people do.. The way the man constantly loses his ability to speak whenever he’s talking to her… that’s love. Not touching, not kissing, not saying it out loud; love hides in the little details.. And loving despite everything, finding that attraction unchanged despite everything.. The girls’ hairstyles are lovely, the dresses, the English expressions and manner of speaking… In silent films, there is actually more hidden in the details because there are no spoken words


Gülümsemenin insanın yüzünde çizdiği aydınlık o kadar çekici ki.. Daha önce gülümseyince çirkin olan birini hiç görmedim, insanın en doğal hâlini gösterdiği o içten gülümseme.. Bu filmin doğallığı çok hoş.. Eğer Clara Bow şu anda oyuncu olmak istese; hafif gıdığı var, burnu yeterince minik değil, yanakları tombik, gülümseyince yüzünde hafif kırışıklar gözüküyor, kısaca plastik görünümünde değil diye herkes onun çirkin olduğunu söylerdi ve bundan %100 eminim.. Aksine kusurlar insanları çok güzelleştiriyor ve bence aslında bu saydıklarım kusur bile değil ama insanlar kusur olarak görüyor.. Adamın kadınla konuşurken sürekli nutkunun tutulması...aşk bu işte, dokunmak değil öpmek değil söylemek değil, aşk küçük ayrıntılarda saklı.. Ve her şeye rağmen sevmek, her şeye rağmen o çekiciliğin yitmemesi.. Kızların saç stilleri çok hoş, elbiseler, İngilizce deyim ve konuşmalar... Sessiz filmlerde aslında konuşma olmadığı için daha çok ayrıntı saklı
