“I wanna be a good mama.”
A generic and straightforward story about addiction but it’s done right. Though the story is pretty predictable but it still is a pretty damn immersive story thanks to the somewhat witty screenplay and a monster performance from Andrea Riseborough.
Again Andrea Riseborough is easily the best part of this movie, she gives a chaotic and emotional performance as Leslie. In this character driven story she carries the film through some ups and downs. And I don’t care what you say, Andrea absolutely deserved that nomination.
I feel like because the movie is so focused on creating a great story for Leslie, sometimes they forget that they added side characters. Some of these side characters endings feel forced, like the characters arcs weren’t complete yet.
Aside from that, I didn’t really believe in the romance between Leslie and Sweeney because throughout their relationship it felt more of a platonic bond. Overall, I can’t help but think throughout the movie that Owen Teague was absolutely a perfect choice for the apes franchise.
