Closer to a 3.5Getting it out of the way first, Nic Cage gives a fantastic performance in this movie and the second half really is when the film finds it own voice.
While the first half in enjoyable, it lacks any room for the audience to care besides the thought of a normal man appearing in other people's dreams. The first half is funny but could have easily foreshadowed what would happen in the rest of the film.
The second half is a darker spin on this scrnario and proves itself to be knowledgeable on Internet culture and how other react to celebrity's misgivings, even if they haven't done a thing yet. With the second half being this anger inducing, the director uses the idea of a man who only does bad things in your dreams becoens a brilliant jumping off point to discuss issues of celebrity influence and how they stand with he morals we create.
Even if it's a fucking dream.
I wish the first half tied into the brilliance of the second half more but I guess it does show how cool this life could have been. But there was just one weird warning that I honestly forgot about so I guess there should have been more to it.

You know it's an a24 movie when it doesn't explicitly explain the what's and how's.
The movie took a pretty sharp turn tho, it became dark.
