“what did i ever do to deserve you?”
“usually that line is screamed to me by somebody running out the door, not standing in front of me and staying.”
i just want to say that i absolutely adore intersecting stories in films, these sort of movies fascinate me when talking about cinema. i love seeing the distinct contract between each character in each storyline, these sort way filmmakers portray this idea is outstanding.
my favourite storyline by far is between keenan and joan. ryan phillippe portrays keenan so incredibly well, the grief and fear for future relationships just couldn’t be acted by anyone else. now angelina jolie on the other hand, her letting joan finally let out her bottled up feelings and begin to cry shocked me just how it was intended to.
honourable mentions to roger and gracie’s story too because they were cute AND mark and mildred broke my heart, it really reminded me of in the gloaming and seeing mildred break down genuinely hurt me.
the ending to this was just beautiful and i loved how willard carroll decided to have all the stories conjoin one another. except i feel so incredibly bad for roger ☹️ they could’ve given him a new girlfriend or something (i volunteer as tribute) instead of watching the woman he ended up loving pick her failed marriage over the wellbeing of them two.
