the silent cry for help is what draws us further away. This film messed with me, but oh how powerful this is. Heart-breaking that this happens, but how beautiful this film was to capture humanity within. Paul Mescal gave just a deep, powerful, and heart breaking performance. Emily Watson gave such a creepy but awe inspiring performance as well. No big visuals, but not to mention this was just so pretty in its own way. No big music pieces and just the Irish folk songs to carry us along. This is who we are…

Overall a stunning, emotional, beautifully sad film.

The fact that Aileen clearly knew she was in the wrong for lying, and without even talking to Brian she knew he did it, yet still continued to lie - a fabulous realistic display of intensifying guilt, and motherly instincts, even when in the wrong.

“Its just as fucked as its ever been- might look different if your the one turning but, nothings changed”

a bit slow at the beginning, you're starting the movie without any idea of what's going to happen even tho the setting is really interesting
but when the needle dropped, it worked. you felt the tension and the unease ; after all, what would happen in a small village after something like that?
I saw someone said it was edited like a horror movie and I agree, but it's a solid film nonetheless
