*1974 - 3/20
*“Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown.”
Capitalism is inevitable.
Chinatown has been on my watchlist for seemingly forever, and after seeing the 4k for 30% off at B&N I had to snag it.
Chinatown has such a gripping and raw story of a private investigator looking into a seeming innocent case about a husband’s affair with another broad. Jake gets tangled into the politics of Los Angeles after he realizes that there’s more to the story. I truly is a wonderful idea and script on so many levels.
The cinematography is great at times and phenomenal at others. The acting is simply outstanding. Since I’ve started watching the most popular films starting in 1970 (I really need to finish 1973), I’ve realized how great Jack Nicholson has been in cinema. It feels like every year, he’s in a different amazing role in an amazing film. He was unstoppable.
Overall, Chinatown is a gripping story, that just continues to get interesting as the story evolves with an ending that leaves you speechless.I definitely would recommend this to people, a certified classic.
