Tropical Fish
This movie managed to mix comedy with some pretty emotional scenes in a really nice way. I really enjoyed this.

"We have to walk through life, not dream it."

A kidnapping with a coming-of-age aspect, comedy, and adventure. A film with a unique color and personality, it's a movie that's hard to describe with words as it's a unique experience packed with emotions, situations, and stories.

Tropical Fish
This was a huge surprise to me. It was one of those films I discovered randomly and it wasn’t from a word of mouth or any post, I just came across it. Nothing is this film ever feels forced, the humor and drama aspects flow so smoothly to fit into the story to make a satisfying and comfortable environment for the audience. There’s a lot of films about troubled adolescence but this is one of the earliest ones and it’s still really effective. Using tropical fish as a way of explaining that we spend most of our time in our own imagination when the real excitement is outside of it. Our imagination basically shields the parts of reality we dislike. I loved the humor in this, it plays with Asian stereotypes where parents are usually strict on us studying. And it makes this joke about the exam defining your life many times and it’s always hilarious. When we’re young we try to make most fun of it, the harsh realities prevent us from doing that. There are times where we need to get out of our comfort zone to help us go forward in life.
