“I want to help people get their shit together.”“What, you want to start a rehab or some shit?”“I could.”“Well we could work together: I could sell crack and you could rehabilitate the motherfuckers.”
Freddie Gibbs on a farm, what more could you ask for?
I’ve been excited for this for a while, and I’m glad I finally got to see it because this was pretty well-executed and manages to be almost documentary-like with its approach and how intimate it is. Freddie Gibbs is also great in this and has so much charisma that it ends up being very enjoyable despite some of its glaring flaws. Because while this is well-directed and the naturalistic performances work really well, the movie is a little light on actual plot and I think having more story would have made this even better. It’s also a little too long and the ending, while I like what it’s trying to do, doesn’t completely work for me. But this is still really enjoyable and it’s very cool to see Freddie Gibbs in a movie.
