4 movies is a lot to marathon in one go. The marathon for sure changed my perception of why I go to the movies. I feel like I use to go by a trailer and interest in the subject matter itself. Within the last few years that changed from subject matter to trust in the filmmakers and crew and cast following them into whatever story they told. This is a new reason to go, which is trust not in the movies, but in the curator of movies. I feel like the New Bev’s programming has fostered a certain amount of trust in me and giving this a shot was a bit of a leap of faith into the programming, like those who choose what goes up at an art gallery.
At this point I was getting a bit delirious. I can’t remember too much from this flick, but it was pretty insane. College kids are hired to go investigate a yeti sighting. It quickly becomes a slasher between the group and the yeti, until some crazy ass plot twists that were so crazy and pretty hilarious. Spoiler: it turns out it was never a yeti, but a dude in a yeti costume that is luring in humans as meat for a satanic cannibalism cult. It was a wild turn out of nowhere and was endlessly entertaining. I can’t tell u how long this was but felt pretty short and sweet. It was a nice way to end this 8 hour 4 movie 20 trailer and short marathon and I hope the New Bev continues to do more marathons like this. I already see next month is a 90s action marathon, hopefully it becomes a monthly affair. Loved it. Thank you to the great programmers and staff and fellow attendees to making such a fun and inclusive experience of these lost films.
