I thought i would love this but i just feel indifferent to everything that happened, still very stylish and well written.
Also i adore the way 70s films capture their settings, that shot with her smoking the cigarette with the neon pink sign glowing.. too good

a quiet kind of menace runs through this whole movie. geraldine chaplin is magnetic, i couldn’t tell if she’s dangerous, desperate, or both, and that tension keeps every scene alive. it’s slow, but it builds this weird, lonely mood that really stuck with me.

Unbearably obnoxious, but beautifully framed; incoherent, but deceptively emotive. The film lingers on the despair of not having someone in your arms, of refusing to let go of a connection someone once had. The music, which feels out of place, sets the tone perfectly. Love here is corrosive, and the film wallows in that unwillingness to move on. Such a weird movie, took a solid hour of seclusion to figure this one out; not for everyone.

Feels most reminiscent of a 40s era woman’s picture stripped to its bare essentials and injecting with loads of 70s ennui. I wish I connected with it more on a viewer level but there are lots of elements at play here I think are quite strong in their own right and Geraldine Chaplin is in top shape here pulling off a performance I can’t see many others crafting with such specificity.
