A perfectly cheesy 80s slasher in every sense of the phrase. From the acting to especially the soundtrack. I had a lot of fun with it cos I honestly wasn't expecting much.
In terms of technicality, the film has a lot to offer, despite it's obviously low budget. The special effects are really cool, especially the face through the TV à la Videodrome and the bloody hand through the ceiling. The gore is great and gnarly especially during one particular kill. The supernatural stuff is really good. It all took me by surprise.
In terms of character and character dynamics, I was more invested in the friendship between Michael and Tony than the romance between Michael and Alex, and I wish the film explored that more as it would have made the film's concept more intriguing. The film shares some similarities to the novel My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix and I think it was an inspiration for that novel.
The film's concept is great, but i don't think the filmmakers thought it out clearly because the script feels scattered sometimes. The relationship between Michael and Tony is important to the concept but isn't developed fully.
The acting wasn't that great but it was definitely better than what I was expecting. It is clear that the actors are trying their best, especially the lead.
Despite its flaws, this was a really enjoyable, charming and creative late 80s slasher. It's just one strong and focused script away from being legitimately perfect.
Also, the tagline fucking rules.
