THE STRANGEST OF LOVE STORIES
"It's daylight there is nothing to be scared about."
"They say stars are god giving us signals."
"Please get me out of here!"
"Let's wander around, we'll find the exit eventually."
"What are you hiding?"
"A fire in the cemetery will attract the caretakers."
"All the happiness in the world, death search my love, search further, the land underground, together forever, no more fear. No more pain. They won't touch us anymore, the wicked are leaving us."
The peak of minimalist cinema, with 70 minutes of runtime, 2 characters basically, and stunning cinematography, The Iron Rose grips the viewer from the start with that magnificant beach shot.
Perhaps the strangest romance, that can even be percieved as a horror, the iron rose symbolises. eternal love through death and a mesmering labyrinth of a cemetery.
Both main characters credited as 'The Girl' and 'The Boy', The Iron Rose doesn't try to be a grand epic with actionful sequences, but rather the subtle feeling of the pair being lost, and slowly descending into paranoi and madness.
I cba to write a full review as I have to shower in a min because I'm going to watch Heat in cinemas but still, peak film.
