This was surprisingly good. I loved the Barbies' friendship so much, and the plotline with Emmie worked in really nicely. The "protagonists split up before the 3rd act" trope usually irritates me but it's done tastefully here because they're not necessarily mean or dramatic about it. I wish the songs were diegetic a la Camp Rock but still, the movie works well.
