Not the worst Halloween knock-off.

It’s baffling that after years of giallo and then Halloween/Black Christmas setting the popular template, you still get slashers that are like “Here’s the killer. He’s just a guy. You see his face and he has dialogue. You know whodunnit.” This more of a comedy than a slasher but it’s one of many choices that frustrate the very simple  narrative.

This movie is a crash course in anger management. Between testing your patience with a ton of padding, everybody is so awful. Shitty little Christopher takes the cake but can you imagine you’re stuck in an asylum and some asshole follows you around to mime stitching your hospital gown incessantly? I mean, it’s an obvious point, but goddamn does the babysitter lead have to put up with so much shit from every dude she interacts with (children included). There are so many unnecessary scenes of people being obnoxious assholes, like when the killer boards a bus and we linger on the outside of the bus to get an ADR bit of churlishness from the bus driver.
