Oh yes! The universe has rewarded me for sticking through the weakest entries in the series!

After so many movies that try to be dramas with horror elements, this not only is one of the most horror feeling entries but actually feels like a Junji Ito manga brought to life! They bring in Noboru Iguchi the man behind stuff like Machine Girl and Zombie Ass, and quite frankly this guy should have been in charge of the franchise from the beginning! This guy understands the assignment! We got Tomie centipedes, a tumor headed Tomie, a giant Tomie peeking through doorways, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg, if you love this stuff you need to check it out!

So glad after many years I finally got around to watching this, because this is not just going to be one of my favorites, but it might be my ultimate favorite of the series! I asked for it to end with a bang in my last review, and boy did I receive!

But shame this is the last one as of right now. I have no idea if they’ve been talking about more entries over there in Japan, but I’m hoping they get back to it someday soon. And carry on the momentum from this movie as well! And please, keep it in Japan. After the latest entries in the American versions of The Ring and The Grudge, I’m not sure I trust my own country with this series!

And yes I have checked out Junji Ito Maniac on Netflix a few years ago, which does contain a Tomie story. Was pretty good, but I need more Tomie!

feel like this is Iguchi’s most morbid and bleak film, with a sombre atmosphere throughout. rather than Iguchi’s standard over-the-top body horror or humour, this goes for a much more standard J-horror approach just with a lot of gore. yet it does have moments of Iguchi madness throughout, especially in the final act! for sure one fans of Iguchi & people that don’t like his other work may enjoy. Miu Nakamura is excellent as Tomie, absolutely steals the show! really cool film from one of my favourite directors! highly recommended.

for sure Iguchi’s creepiest film with some great atmosphere especially during the start! also being an Iguchi film, we get the gore & craziness with some humour as you’d expect. really enjoyed this one, especially that final act which was just completely crazy!! loved it! Miu Nakamura was also really great as Tomie! absolutely worth a watch!

see as someone who has read the manga by junji ito and absolutely enjoyed every part of it and the character of tomie kawakami im just gonna say that this film was decent in my opinion like it obviously wasn’t the best film and it had down flips and what not but i’d say that it was bad but in a good kind of bad way like it’s a film that hilariously gives you such an adventure to a weird hell the cgi sometimes wasn’t the best but i did really loved how gory and just brutal some of the deaths were in this film and the color palette of the film was beautiful but the music and score choices for this film were utterly bizarre, and frankly off putting to me this was a film were you just sit around with friends and just have laughs together because of weird of a film it was to sit and watch
