it's almost half a century that this movie was made and its themes of alienation, obsession, and the characters' entanglement with technology (esp video screens) still hits diff. and now, ik a google is just a few clicks away but dangg- looking at the video conference or video phoning (?) scenes just makes this movie so timeless too

Egoyan stetic farming, Mychael Danna’s composing, chronically online pre-internet, elusive atmosphere, physical media, casting couch, fantasy projection, world’s first esex on film, obsessional unordinarily distant romance and some moggy people in here just lock me in. Egoyan should’ve made sex, lies, and videotape. S,L,V, Mulholland Drive and Videodrome mashup

‘Love is about feeling someone else feeling you, right? Do you feel him feeling you the way you feel yourself?‘

watched on vhs in my living room on the first chilly day of late summer. peak viewing experience highly recommend. still not sure how i feel abt the film tho, to be quite frank i was very stoned trying not to fall asleep for the last 20ish minutes and got a bit lost. but very cool to look at especially on tape, this film is already dripping in analog sauce and seeing it w the vcr degradation blown up thru a projector really added to the dreamlike and voyeuristic aspects of it. will definitely revisit and tap into more egoyan shoutout orbit for the find once again
