The thing I most enjoyed about Arsenal were the still backround characters it gave them a feeling of death, or lifelessness.

I think it was a great movie, but some of the dialogue felt a bit off.

I have never experienced this many quick cuts in such an old film before, nice editing work was done here. Gives "Come and See" (1985) Vibes.

No way I just actually watched an Ukrainian silence movie that’s near 100 years old😭🙏

I watched my first silence movie today. It was interesting, but not really my thing. I am planning to watch tho to see if I change my mind.

But let’s talk about the movie. No way this is actually 100 years old (almost). The cinematography was truly amazing, the fight scenes were really well made and the some shots could actually be paintings. I just had a hard time to follow what was going on. I still don’t really know tbf. Also watched this on YouTube, so not everything was translated so most of the time I didn’t know even knew what they’re were “saying”. 

I do think it has potential to be higher rating if I knew what I was watching because it looked really good for such an old movie and it’s a really interesting concept. Maybe I’ll rewatch it someday.

The only qualification I feel like I have to evaluate this film is to think about what I've seen in other war movies of the time: Battleship Potemkin and Napoleon. Based on what I saw in those films, this one taps into the psyche of war that feels impossible for the time. The editing feels years ahead of itself introducing filmic nuance through editing and shocking imagery. Nightmare war fuel on par with Come and See. The only political insight I felt like I could glean was some type of internal conflict between the Ukranian identity and the identity of the worker. Despite the propagandist strain of freely killing another human being as it outlines, I can't help but sense a pessimism about it all that makes it a little easier to swallow. Overall a very memorable film which I would definitely revisit unlike the latter two I mentioned.
