they really wanted to make this seem like Stand by Me

sorry maybe it’s just because i famously was an eleven year old girl with ptsd once but i deeply do not understand the vitriol here. i thought it was very cute and a little devastating! trite, yes, but it is literally stand by me with eleven year old girls so i’m just not sure what people were expecting! honestly reminded me a lot of the florida project.

*also, it ended with seven by taylor swift, so it was basically made in a lab for me.

i’m actually pissed off, i know they’re children but their actions?? like they choose to make the most nonsensical decisions just for the sake of moving the plot along and it just comes across as silly. the acting was awful apart from the comedic relief bar scene. daisy? i’ve never wanted to punch a child more. mari was definitely the most bearable and best actress by far, she’s probably the highlight of this movie, but thats not saying much. the real “patriarchal bull” is men who have no idea how to write women (especially pre-pubescent girls) doing it anyway. at least they played seven at the end.
