I love how Hong Sang-soo hides so much complexity in such simple stories. As Jingu notes, themes are secondary; the point is the encounter itself. Oki's Movie beautifully captured this philosophy, going beyond just looking for profound meaning and concentrate on the crucial, often illogical, yearning for existence itself.
We chase things without knowing why, forced into a cycle of endless questioning. Yet the only truth is in the choices we make, stuff that words can't even explain. When we keep doing the same things, new questions pop up, and maybe that's where we find our reason for being. Like a movie, life doesn't need to be figured out; it just needs to be lived, even if it's messy.
