obsessed with how beautiful this film looks.

almost every shot is composed IMPECCABLY (didn't care for the battle scenes), basically every person and object placed so deliberately and meticulously. that one scene of himiko writhing in the white sand during the middle of an oracle(?) and her shadow looks like a screaming face? cinema.

the stylistic choices too, from the diverse natural settings to the modernist interpretation of japanese royal architecture at that time. also, everyone acted their asses off. #werk

After watching my first Masahiro Shinoda film he has quietly established himself as one of my favourite directors. This is a wonderful film reminds a little bit of Jodorowsky and Zulawski but it really stands on its own.

crazy thing to do right after saying “you are my sister”

visually stunning, batshit crazy, beautifully surreal, primal and about religion and power. me when i say words

it’s easy to follow the story but honestly thematically i’m like lost there is so much going on. everyone in this film truly committed to the bit, like the chickens and the hunchback guys and then the guy randomly back flipping… 

the last shot is actually so cool it just like puts it all into context
