Better than Independence day by a long shot, and probably parallel to Armageddon for me! Had fun, liked the story, and the comet/wave were well done and effective. The timeline could have been condensed a bit to really get the stress levels up, but I still think the sense of dread is communicated well. I'm just glad they didn't have to hack any alien ships to save the day! Serviceable end of the world story if you're into them - soft recommend.

The whole film has this odd pacing, where scenes that should be fleshed out aren't and scenes that could've been an email are drawn out. I mean, why was Elijah Wood's character in this? What was his purpose? Was his story necessary for the themes? I wanted to know more about the astronauts and Morgan Freeman. The reporter already has the "family is important" message. I guess you could say that juggling too many storylines lose their impact?
