“We can sneak 40s into random foreign films and then suddenly it’ll be look whoops where did our twenties go.”
I watched this and Coherence for the first time back to back. By no means do I think this movie is bad, because I was pretty glued onto the screen. But, I will say I am just extremely dissatisfied with the resolution. It felt a lot like it wanted to go batshit sci fi ending but simultaneously though it needed to stay grounded which isn’t inherently bad. Sadly, uncertainty in tone really fucked with this one. I will probably revisit this one though, would love to try to click with it more.

Unsurprisingly very similar in tone and approach to Another Earth, but gives Marling a completely different role, which is fun. Really cool to see where it appears the movements in The OA originated.
