This movie belongs in a museum but not just for its historical and human experience but for its
artistical values alone.
For me Terrence Malick peaks here.
90 minutes of pure
beauty.
I'm unsure how I can express myself after being overcome by this wave of poetry, I feel not worthy to put my thoughts into words.
The
atmosphere this documentary creates is
soul-touching. I recall atleast a dozen times of getting
goosebumps and
shivers.
The
soundtrack & Cate Blanchett's
narrative is
heavenly. It made me feel like an actual viewer from an outside perspective on our earth, life and time. I can't describe it any other way, I'm missing the words.
The film confronts you with
philosophy,
science and
art left & right. It's an abstract form that leaves some space for your interpretation whilst still being
crystal clear.
What is this world?
The stricken ox. The abandoned child. The wound. The old woman.
Might we be deceived?
The soul. A wish. A dream.
And we know nothing.
I had to let that sink in for a little, because the more I think about anything that happened in this film, the more I discover, the better it gets.
I also recently realised how
impatient I have gotten. This movie helped me restore a lot of my patience and showed me to relax and
just let the magic work on you.
However, I do have 2 major
negative aspects. First, there is need for some
transitions, maybe visually, maybe otherwise, but that way, it can appear very dry.
Second, the chances of one
forgetting most of the quotes and poetic value of this thoughtful art are sadly very high. Atleast I had similar problems in the past with Terrence Malick's work and this was no other than the rest in that aspect.
