michael haneke never really has a happy thought, but this time instead of just disturbing you he makes you feel something deeper. a beautiful and heartbreaking film about growing old and facing things we usually avoid like aging and death. the performances are incredible and feel very real, which makes it hit even harder. it’s quiet and honest, not dramatic, just showing how love exists in small moments, in care, in silence, in simply being there for someone. it can feel distant at times, but it leaves you with an empty feeling in your heart
