make them die slowly.
cannibal ferox is an italian cannibal exploitation movie, infamous for appearing on the ‘video nasty’ list, and also showing some of the most depraved, hyper-realistic gore of its time. its also gained a reputation of copying the entirety of cannibal holocaust, and while that might be the case, the difference between both films is that this is actually good, while the cannibal holocaust is far from being remotely good. it could potentially be seen as slighly misogynistic, and it goes all out on its animal cruelty, but ‘cannibal ferox’ had a really weird gorehound charm that kept my enjoyment going. it totally delivers on its graphic mutilation that consisted of castration and boobs hooked off, as well as scalping. it doesn’t care about societal commentary, but is completely fine with me: as atleast it doesn’t claim to be something more than it actually is, with cannibal holocaust having some super pretentious, half-baked messages that just angered me so much. this movie doesn’t give a fuck about any of that, and maybe that’s why i like it so much. it has a super funky, disco oriented soundtrack that is unironically really great, and perfectly fits the atmosphere they were going for. it also has loads of cocaine, so that’s another reason why this is the better 70s-80s cannibal flick.
