I'm kicking myself for not watching Marcel the Shell with Shoes On sooner. Marcel is genuinely one of the cutest characters I've ever seen, so kind and sweet and full of joy. And as if things couldn't get any better, the film uses stop-motion, one of my favourite forms of animation, to bring him and his world to life. I really liked the mockumentary style was great, as it allowed us to focus on Marcel and Nana Connie, and how their interactions with each other and Dean changed throughout the film. The story itself was so heartwarming, and it ended on a very bittersweet note; I was close to tears every five minutes during the hour and a half run-time. On the whole, a brilliant film, and one I'll definitely be revisiting often.
