i wasn't expecting how sad this was gonna be, i thought this was gonna be some lighthearted beautiful romance by takeshi kitano but instead i got a depressing love story with beautiful cinematography by takeshi kitano. this movie was rlly good, also rlly fucking sad. i love the themes of fate and unrequited love, the theme of obsession is also rlly good. this is probably kitanos most beautiful movie and as always by joe hisaishi, the soundtrack is just fantastic, captures the bittersweetness and beauty of this movie perfectly and he made me like this more than i thought i would. this movie relies on visual storytelling a lot and there's not much said throughout this movie so it makes a slow burner, but it's so beautiful that u genuinely can't look away from it, i'm amazed by how stunning the cinematography is. the entire metaphor behind the dolls and how it correlates to being controlled by fate is such an interesting metaphor that i've never seen, i think it's just a fantastic metaphor and im glad kitano was the one who thought about it because it made an excellent movie. the acting is so good, even though there isn't much said their faces and movements are just so well acted and the way they can convey emotions just from their expressions are just incredible. i'm still not over the story and how they're not connected yet they're all featured in each others story, it's so good. the ending of this movie is so sad, the way all 3 endings are so sad just makes this into a depressing tale of love, fate and obsession.
good movie
