Cage goes full yee-hah in this hodgepodge western, that doesn’t know whether it wants to be a heartfelt quirky father/daughter bonding movie or a badass Unforgiven style quest for revenge, and somehow ends up awkwardly in the middle.
And yet…there is an odd like-ability especially in the pairing of Cage as retired gunfighter Colton Briggs and Ryan Kiera Armstrong as his daughter Brooke who take up arms after a ghost from Briggs’s past comes to visit.
Plenty of familiar faces here with Clint Howard as a dusty old sidewinder, Adam Benrubi as a henchman and Nick Searcy who was Raylans boss in Justified, again playing a US Marshall. Searcy is a decent actor, but as a person not so much, adopting the role of a right wing troll on twitter.
I did laugh as his most recent post though where some legend keyed his car because he was rocking a Trump bumper sticker 😆
