I'd like to take back everything I said that was any bit negative about Stoker, this is the worst thing Park Chan-Wook has to be associated to.
I've only seen one other Spike Lee movie, but this really makes me hope this was a one-time blunder because this movie completely ruined the source material! Like, it misses the point of the original Oldboy movie: that revenge never truly feels satisfying. It lacks basically any of the unique stuff from the original in favor of a dark action movie, but it fails in that department too as this version is significantly tamer than the original.
If you want my suggestion, just read the subtitles and watch the original. It's a much more satisfying experience overall, and just an absolute beauty 23 years after its release.
