I put expectations on this film that were misaligned. I'm thinking this would be a thriller-action vehicle for Thandiwe Newton, something like a latter career Liam Neeson movie. I was mistaken; this is more of a slow burn more geared towards dramatic quiet moments, and ultimately, I didn't get into this one.

honestly this could have been a 5/5 of it weren't so disorganized. I just wish that they picked one message/storyline and stuck to it. it was really scattered and I guess it came together in the end but not enough to justify the randomness. at one point I thought I was watching a copaganda movie but it veered away from that so that's good. 

I liked the symbolism with the flood vs the fire and I really liked the last like twenty minutes

The other people in my theater were very vocal about their thoughts after the movie and how it was “as slow as molasses”, but I think a large part of that is the unevenness of the story making it drag a little bit. 

It’s not bad, but not necessarily anything crazy special.
