This is your typical Steven Seagal late-’80s/early-’90s action movie. There’s not much here besides Steven Seagal looking badass and stopping a bunch of bad guys who want to bomb America for insert reason here.

Tommy Lee Jones does a really good job as a proficient soldier portrayed by our government, and Gary Busey does what Gary Busey does: act wild and crazy.

The fight scenes are OK, but nothing to write home about or anything pretty memorable. The chemistry between Seagal and the girl who is his partner in this film is pretty much nonexistent, but at least the girl is pretty.

And there’s a really memorable scene with the girl coming out of a cake, which is always a highlight for me.

The most interesting that I got from this long overdue rewatch is just how much of this works with Seagal. There’s a House of Dynamite style tension to hijacking & launching of the warheads. All Seagal does really is knife a few dudes. I was kind of shocked because I remember this having more unnecessary martial arts but there’s very little of that on screen. Hell of a good time!
