What an ending !!!
The whole film felt really three dimensional it really levelled itself up from a lot of typical traps and conventions jidai-geki films kind of dig themselves into I think
Everything just looked so interesting which worked especially well whenever it did something odd or bounced around in the narrative a bunch
This has such potential to be one of my favs, but i think its political focus feels pretty weak compared to the idea of someone becoming obsessed with killing someone and figuring them out
While that second storyline feels so much more interesting, it did get marginalised a little bit I found bc when it was diving in and out of memories and time and whatnot, the focus of those segments weren’t really delving into anything that bridges the two characters, more just let us see what happened
Which was still great ofc
But it could’ve served more purpose that would’ve given a really strong punch to that other plot line ig
Other than that it’s just super solid
Breathable and interesting and such a great final act
