“GET BACK!.. YOU EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS!”
I do not give a single fuck if I’m being blinded by nostalgia, this is a great horror/comedy that leans more towards comedy - it’s really only scary if you have arachnophobia because there really isn’t a lot of verisimilitude in a random barrel of chemicals causing ‘spider-streroid’ crickets that cause them to grow up to 5-25 feet bigger than usual. I genuinely used to look at people and tell them how the fuck can you be scared of spiders because this film made me so fascinated with them; even to this day, I still look at spiders with a level of admiration and appreciation for what they do. If you kill a spider when it chills in your room, I hope your pillow is eternally infernal (that being said a lot of spiders get blown to pieces by shotguns and hacked apart with various improvised weaponry so yeah, I’m a hypocrite)
I have rewatched this countless times and every single time I love it even more - this is in fact David Arquette’s best film and performance, Chris McCormick is the goat, Sam is the second goat and Deputy Pete is goat jr. I’m so happy I own this now, I saw a DVD copy of it in a charity shop for 50p and I was so baffled because I didn’t even know it was released on DVD, it also has a Blu-ray that I am desperate to get my hands on because the CGI in this film must look hilariously shit in HD that it would add to the greatness I bestow upon this marvellous film
