The idea behind this movie is honestly really good, but the execution didn’t fully work for me. The fact that there’s no dialogue at all is a very interesting concept and it plays nicely with the title, but I don’t think it’s used in the best possible way.
That said, when it comes to action, the film absolutely goes all in. The final act is basically non stop chaos. Gunfights, blood, chases… it doesn’t hold back at all, and that’s easily the strongest part of the movie. If you’re into very over the top action, you’ll probably have a good time there.
At the same time, it often feels way too unrealistic. I know it’s a movie and you have to accept certain things, but there are moments that really stretch believability even for this kind of story. Some of the effects also looked a bit rough, which took me out of it a few times.
The soundtrack was probably my biggest disappointment. The Christmas songs are fun and fit the setting, but with a movie that has zero dialogue, the score should have carried much more emotion and tension. I really felt that absence throughout the film.
Joel Kinnaman does a solid job in the action scenes and fully commits physically, and Catalina Sandino Moreno isn’t bad either, but I didn’t really feel much chemistry between them. Without dialogue, their relationship feels a bit strange and distant, which makes it harder to connect emotionally.
The second act also felt too long and repetitive. I think showing less and mixing the structure a bit more could have made everything more effective and tighter.
In the end, it’s not a bad watch if what you want is pure, excessive action, especially in the last stretch. But beyond that, it doesn’t have much more to offer, and the concept ends up feeling stronger than the movie itself.
