There’s this scene that really struck me where Soraya goes into her grandpa’s home and sees the Israeli’s mugs say “peace now” and “end the occupation” only to be followed by her being kicked out of the house after visually and verbally showing her anger towards her family having had everything taken away from them. She tells the occupier

A perfect film. Mandatory viewing to understanding not only Palestine as an occupied state but of its exiled decendants clawing and yearning to belong. I feel ashamed that apartheid and genocide continue to perpetuate. Human failure. 

Open beach. Heirloom furniture. Oranges. I hope I live to see a free Palestine in my lifetime.

it's a very tender romance movie tense with threads of suspense. the bright spots of the protagonist's love can't quite escape the tight clasp of colony and settler apologia. i really can't fathom how someone could witness this, all these bright spots being crushed underfoot so callously for the sake of empire, and start handwringing about "both sides". that scene of the pacifist mugs in the cupboard of the occupied house really said it all.
