it amazes me how with a narrative so simple, this film turned out to be quite the celluloid extraordinaire. tulpan tells a realistic story with several long takes and visually stunning cinematography of the kazakh landscape. although the unfiltered long takes give off a docu-drama vibe that sometimes may seem to drag on you, there are some very veiled deadpan comedic moments that will keep you invested.
