A little underwhelming to be honest. I get the whole point is that it is a story of survival, but it felt loosely tied together with that goal. I just never felt fully engaged or personally connected to the characters.

Also, I hate to say it because it makes me sound like an ignorant prick, but most of the movie felt like it was just virtue signaling the classic racist tropes to get the viewer attached to the characters. It didn’t really work in my opinion. Felt forced.

Steve McQueens Blitz suffers from somewhat of an identity crisis, and felt like it did too much, but also not quite enough. 

Whilst the central premise is interesting, there’s far too many subplots, plenty of grand ideas, but struggles to ever really land on its feet.

I’d be lying if I said that this film wasn’t a showcase of spectacular technical filmmaking. The score was great and there were some immaculate insert shots. As much as I love great shots, it’d be awesome if this film took as much time developing a real emotional story as it did slapping some cool looking insert shots onto the screen. The random-ass shots are overwhelming and pointless (no matter how cool they may look,) and to make matters worse, the characters are flat and I have no reason to be invested in what happens to them. Don’t even get me started on whatever the hell this was trying to say about racial tensity.
