I really wish I liked this more than I did, especially as a believer I'd hoped it'd induce an intrinsic look into faith, belief, grace, etc. Grace vs nature. but alas.
The Tree of Life is undeniably visually beautiful with a moving score, typical for the two Malick films I've seen now.
When it locks into the family drama, it can be quietly devastating in a really honest way and more of my type of movie.
But I don't know man, maybe I'm cynical or not a real filmknower but for the most part it comes off as tedious, overly ambitious and a bit pretentious. I respect it because i'ts very very different than anything I've ever seen in my life, and you can tell this is a deeply personal movie for Malick.
Shouts to Brad tho
