My Favorite Film and my favorite piece in general.I think it was time to watch my all-time favorite movie again.
The deep analysis will come with the three-hour version—this is just something more personal.
I feel lost, without motivation, without the will to keep going. Every day I dream of the future, and that makes me forget the present. I feel like I'm self-destructing. I feel like I'm going to end myself. That’s why I watched you again, I watched you again to experience the beauty of life, to see the grace of the Lord. I’m afraid of the future (who isn’t?), lately, my life feels dimmer, and even though I have God by my side, I feel far from being my best self. I’m just about to finish high school and enter preparatory school, and it overwhelms me—what if I fail and my whole life goes down the drain? I always feel like the things I do might end badly, I don’t want that, but it just happens. I’m tired of this, I want to make a change, and I’ve been wanting to for a long time but I can’t. Every day I pray that I can finally achieve it, but I can’t.
Now that I’ve watched you again, I feel free, capable of doing anything, even if I still don’t feel completely perfect. I feel like I’m getting closer to being my best self. I know God has a path prepared for me, I just need to find the strength to follow it. This beautiful testament by Malick has helped me more than I could ever imagine—The Tree of Life is the film of Life.
My short film will be out soon, I promise. I’m doing everything possible to make it real, so that you can all watch it. To see my art, my true self, my most intimate message, to truly know me. Even if I never reach Malick’s level, I want to be remembered.
I thank you all so much, you've helped me more than you think. Without you, I wouldn’t be here writing reviews—I’d probably be watching movies or doing something else. But I wouldn’t be here. Without learning everything I’ve learned thanks to all of you, my friends.
Thank you for reading, and I hope God blesses all of you. You deserve it—you deserve a beautiful life, a life full of learning, a life where you are truly alive.
