"ЗАКРОЙ ДВЕРЬ ДУРА!!!"
This is a fucking masterpiece. This is arthouse at its finest and this is also the best and most tastefully done exploitation film.First off I want to mention that on Letterboxd it says that it's only 85 minutes long, but personally I watched the uncut version which was 126 mins and I had an absolute blast watching this. I didn't feel bored even ONCE, so i don't really know how lackluster is the cut version if it's so short. There was constantly something crazy happening on screen with flashing lights and goofy music complimenting all the images. And when I say crazy, I do mean it. The angles are really strange and silly ( for example there is a dialogue that is seen from the perspective of a dead fish that lays between two pieces of bread). There is also really interesting CGI creatures and structures that flash back and forth and as a person who doesn't like CGI, I am absolutely in love with this style.
The plot is really thin and there almost isn't any. But basically you follow the life in balkan apartments and a nightclub. As the night progresses you see different types of suffering on different people. That's pretty much it. There is some drama between a few of the main characters and it's done surprisingly well. The actors did an amazing job.I also want to say that even though this film shows violence, gore, drugs, sex and necrophilia, it is all done really tastefully and it all fits the vibe and purpose of the movie. It's hard for me to analyze the whole 2 hours of madness so I just recommend checking it out if you can handle everything listed above. I could compare this to the films Begotten, Lilya 4 Ever and When black birds fly, as nothing else really comes to mind since this piece is so unique.
